Oh my god that feels good.... (2014 season opener)

San Francisco Bay Candlestick Park

First day of the year!!!

There were a couple of days sailable the week prior but I was away on business to Singapore then to visit family in Thailand so missed the start of the season.

After a winter of surfing (35 sessions between October -> February), I threw some windsurfing gear in the car after work and drove down to the stick.

Hm... nobody there... How windy is it?

Looks 5.0... maybe 4.5... man.. I forget how to do this. Oh well... try for a 5.0, I want to get planing after all!

I hit the water and was blasting away from shore right away, grinning from ear to ear. A great quote comes to mind for that first reach: "Smiling so hard it comes out as a laugh.". Pure joy.

It lulled for a bit but eventually picked up into a full-power to slightly overpowered 5.0 day. Jacob showed up at the lull but rigged up and joined me when it came back up.

Good times on the water with only Jacob and Dan to share the stick with.

PROGRESS:

Happy to report that the few months off hasn't degraded any of my progress form the 2013 season. In the 90 minutes on the water I:

I nailed my gybes (goes without saying), planed out of a duck gybe.

Got my heli-tack and regular tack. Hit my first vulcan on port, and came so close on starboard. Upwind 360 in the straps.. check. Even made it 3/4 of the way around a flat-water loop (not much of a ramp), which is about as good as I've ever done at Candlestick.

Aso managed one spock attempt where I rotated 2/3 of the way through, crashing with a WAY too early rig flip.

I can immediately turn to progressing this year... which means: spock, flaka, shove-it (with some dabbling in switch kono).
