Fun! But Wayyyyy Overpowered

Lake Erie LBCA

Got home from an excellent OBX trip and thought that was it for my season but my friend K kept coaxing me to give it another try at home.

There was a gale warning on but the land temperature was in the 60's and the water in the upper 50's. I was thinking of getting out before the big wind hit so the smallest sail I took was 4.2 and my 84L

I lasted 40 minutes of getting slammed......way overpowered is an understatement .

I was warm and able to sail bare hands.

I was sticking in close to the beach to keep safe.

10 of us there....9 of us sailing. All in all I really enjoyed myself and would definitely try it again next year :-)

Thanks to my sailing friends for the encouragement and keeping an eye on me.

Later on it was fun to watch the guys tackle the big wind and waves.

Chris put on an amazing show :-)

Weather Conditions

Very gusty building wind that started to set up waves inside.

Nice to have the protection of the point to get out without shore slop.
