Lake Ontario Hospital Beach
Solid wind on the Burlington beach these past two days!! Wed was stronger, with bigger waves but today also rates highly. Met Terry at Hospital Beach (third hydro tower from the Hospital) and got on the water around noon on wed with 5.5/95, Terry on 5.7/89. Initially had trouble clearing the strong beach break and had to walk back up the beach. After taking a little downhaul off, re-launched and had some great rides out to the pier, finding some large and somewhat organized waves. Rode one wave a looooong way in and enjoyed a really great ride but that was costly, paying the price of another long walk up the beach. After a break, headed out again and had some really sweet runs with full power. This session was going great but ended abruptly after getting heavily maytagged near shore, then discovering the main panel on my beloved 5.3 was shredded. Arrrgh**&^%!!!! Made it to the beach and found hangloose who had just arrived and was chomping at the bit!! Good to see you man! Sorry I didn’t get to head out again as I hear the wind freshened around 4 and several more guys were on the way.
Thursday, arrived before 10 to find northshore already out there making long runs out the to pier and back, totally shredding on his 5.3....looking good !!...what a feeling!! My good luck story is that he had a used 5.0 Legend to sell and brought it!!! Got going pretty good on that for a while but the strong NE was clearly winding down. I was in to re-rig to 6.2 but was having mast issues, kudos to northshore again as he was finally in off the water and loaned his mighty Global 6.2 since he was done and now on his way to work. Caught a few more juicy waves with Terry (6.5/105) and hangloose before calling it a day. Managed a few pics from Wed and will post soon. Super start to another school year!! Hope others got a piece of this big system.
squally, mostly steady wind, big waves, warm brown water
