Butt kicking

Guelph Lake "The Island" launch

So the lake was blowing up with white caps and some small chop, which is pretty good for such a small lake. I've been loving my newer 8.8 so I thought I'd give it a shot over powered again (last time was pretty good).

We'll I got my ass handed to me, I was way too over powers for my ability. For some reason, I was having a real hard time getting the nose of the board to point down wind so I could accelerate onto plane. Once I got pointed in the right direction it was blast off!!!! However, tacking the big sail in those winds was impossible and I'd end up in the water. I'm still up hauling so it was a lot if work getting the sail out of the water. The strong winds would keep it pressed flat parrelel with the water making up hauling really difficult. I had three absolute rocket runs but was completely exhausted from fighting the tacks at eithe side.

I came in and re-rigged the 7.0. The wind died down a bit (figures) but I got a few good planing runs in. I tried my first planing jibe just for giggles. I actually made it all the way round, flipped the sail, and couldn't believe I was about to make it. Sheeted in with my weight to far forward and got tossed.

Rode 'till dark and packed it in after practicing water starts.
