Trespassing at Point Traverse and other adventures
Ontario Point Traverse lighthouse
The forecast was promising other than the rain.
Arrived at 10am, with Joe and OW already on the water for at least an hour on 3.7.
Windmill and Windyyet made the 4hrs trip but by the time they got out, a squall has gone through and the wind dropped a touch. Windyyet ended in the harbour windshadow. Fortunatly the rescue van, aka rINR, arrived just on time and picked him up and saved him from the longest walk of shame.
Windchiro arrived shortly after to complete the crew.
It pretty much rained the whole sailing session, sometimes very light, occasionally hurting the face.
The water was nice and warm with a 4/3 suit on, temp around 17C.
I went through the whole combination from 3.5, 4.2, 5.0 and 69L and 85L today as the wind gradually dropped. Waves were messy for Point Traverse, too much East.
Got a few clew first Ontario style front side, got a lot of blown ones and a nicely tweaked aerial (a la Peter Vu at PSC picture) and landed nose first then ate it. Felt great.
The gate was open and no fine for trespassing, that's good.
Parked right in the middle of a big shiny poison ivy patch, got change and did not realize until after the fact, that's not so good. Will find out next week whether I'm allergic to the stuff :-(
Overall even with messy wet condition, it was fun to see so many sailors at Traverse. Today if you did not have a Hot Sail or a Simmer Sail, you did not belong!
messy, wet, windy but unfortunately dropping throughout the day
