Today was a spock day
San Francisco Bay Candlestick Park
Showed up at Candlestick after brad sent an OSR of 4.2 winds.
He was on the water and looked nicely powered on 4.2, with Kevin being on what I assumed was his 4.4. Graham had come off to deal with a borken harness line on his 4.8.
So.... I rigged 4.5 while eyeing a 5.7 being rigged by that another sailor who doesn't normally sail at the Stick. As I get my wetsuit on, I notice that Brad/Kevin are planing less and less, finding more than just the occaisional hole. They finish their reaches with tacks or gybes and not shakas and spocks so must be underpowered.
Even the other candlestick regulars on
I rerigged to 4.8.
I had a great time for 30 minutes with a bagged out 4.8. Spocks seemed to come easily but while it was holey outside, it was strongest right at shore, my prime flaka spot so alas.. no flakas for me, though I did have one rotation which felt good.
After 30 minutes I was planing half the time.
Then I was planing half the time for another 30 minutes (as well as the guy who rigged a 5.7 eclipse). Then I was schlogging the whole time.... session done.
At least it was sunny and warm.
