Cracked 40km/h (22kts)
Hamilton Harbour CCIW
Time on Water: 2hrs 12mins
Top Speed: 40.7km/h (22kts)
Yahoo. So much fun after a long day of work. Fought through the tough traffic on the QEW from Oakville to CCIW. Got on the water and was planing instantly. Gusty conditions as usual but consistent planing windspeed.
Was trying to hit a top speed so in a huge gust I just sunk into the harness and blasted downwind. Success! Over 40km/h. I also landed the best gybe of my life. It was almost a planing gybe but I did slow down a bit. I am really focussing on a smooth foot transition and keeping the weight of my feet on the inside rail. I'm also focussing on a wider arch in the gybe. It's really working. I'm close to that planing exit!
Wind direction wasn't ideal and it was hard to stay away from the islands.
Wonderful night on the water. 2 other sailors out, fun had by all. Lost my sunglasses and ruined my Sony Walkman (was so excited to get out I didn't seal the waterproof case... oh well)
Choppy, not ideal wind direction, sailed too close to islands. Super warm water... almost too warm!
