2 reaches only
Lake O MCP
All web sites were showing at least 4 hours of consistent S wind, so when I took off from my launch at the Etobicoke/Mississauga border, and managed to pump onto plane, I wasn't going to let go! Not much more out in the open, plenty of sailboats bobbing away and waving to me while I was planing between, I would wave back but was too busy squeezing every half knot out of the breeze.. any manoeuvre I considered meant I would have to pump to plane again, so wasn't going to change a thing, just ride till it goes! Full Forward! Eastbound!!
Passed the Humber river, passed CN tower, getting by the Leslie Spit lighthouse, my legs are rather unhappy from keeping same position waaay too long, got to make a decision to turn around before I get stuck out here – and get a 20km walk of shame! So when the 2 chimneys of Cherry Beach power plants overlapped, I turned around.. and the long schloog back started! Took about 20 minutes, lots of muscle and bit of luck till I was going well again, managed to plane all way back to Colonel Smiths park, then wind gradually died.. but I made it back!
My MCP buddies always said I “like to sail far” … guess they are right!
But, it was only 2 reaches… :-/
flat water, marginal winds... just enough for tourism
