First day back

Half Moon Bay Harbor Half Moon Bay Harbor

Kevin had just dropped off a brand new 4.4 Loco Pro to help round out my freestyle quiver (4.4/4.8 will have me completely covered).

With a solid SW wind being forecast, I planned to join George early and get some water time before friends came over that evening. Wind showed up and didn't look great as I approached Pillar Point but when I got the launch it was howling. I rigged up 4.4 regardless and went out. Great choice.

Maybe it was the new gear adrenaline but I felt like I was on point. At the very least, the new sail and the rust from the winter didn't throw me off. I made my first tacks upwind (yay not falling in cold water) and before I know it was blasting around.

A bunch of gybes, loops and flakas later, I felt like I was on top of the world. The wind kept picking up so I had to be judicious with when to try for a move. In the end, my hands gave out, ripping open two solid blisters. I guess I was sailing like it was the end of the season... and my hands reminded me it was only day 1. I was too preoccupied with not further ripping open my hands which put a damper on the session so I stayed out a bit longer, gybed some more but then packed it up and called it a day.

Super fun.... glad to be back
