Lake Simcoe Beaverton

The lake was on fire today but unfortunatly for me, even my smallest stuff was not small enough. Got there at 1100 and there were a number of sailors there already, we all stood around in the rain waiting to see what would happen. Once it stopped, riNR headed out on his 5.0 and could barely hold on, so I rigged my 4.5 feeling good.

Hit the water and launched two airs on the way out then realized how much wind there was, fully sheeted out and just trying to keep the board on the water and me out of the water. I think I only completed one jibe as everytime I could not commit as there was just too much power, I would get half way and bail out.

After about 1.5 hours the wind backed off about a knot and I decided this was a good time to try more air, nailed one ramp just as a gust of wind hit me and I uncontrollably completed 1/4 of a loop as I slammed down on top of all my kit. No injury to me or my stuff and I attempted no more jumps after that.

The wind was very gusty but all in all I had fun sailing with some good folks and it was great to see riNR healthy enough to try and jump over me again, he had one while I was in the water that had to be 8+ feet, not bad for a guy with only one hip. For me though, I spent too much time in the water wishing I had smaller gear.

Weather Conditions

Windy but gusty. Solid 3.5 conditions.
